Shew....

...goodness, things have been busy! In my last post I divulged that I have a new job, moved my kids with me to the school I am teaching at, and we bought a new house. As wonderful as these changes are, they have left me exhausted. The kids are having to adjust, we drive 1 hour to and from our new school until we close on our new house, and I am having to plan for a new class. But, it is soooo going to be worth it...I can't wait! So...that is why I have been scarce with the blogging, but I do have a few things to share today.

First, this is my October layout for a la Carte..."How Many Clicks..." I used the October 31st kit from Noel Mignon...yummy...it is busting at the seems! Aphra and I have made some changes and we are now having one challenge per month. You have until November 14th to email your layout to me at fasylvia_6@yahoo.com.

Because of all of the changes I mentioned above, I had to resign from Scrapping Out Loud! I have loved their blog from the moment I found it, but I was struggling to keep up and I knew it was not going to get any easier. Here are the last 2 layouts that I completed for Scrapping Out LOUD!

"The Time of Our Lives in Times Square"--Love that paper from Little Yellow Bicycle! It was just perfect for some NYC pics.

So I've used the Alphabet Soup line by Jillibean Soup a few times. Ok...maybe more that a few times. I LOVE IT!! With this layout, I did not have to make the hard decision of which papers I was going to use...I used them all! Take a look...

"School Dayz 2008"
I have more to share, but I did not want to cram it all into one ginormous post! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Have a fabulous and safe Halloween!

Southern Hospitality!

It's Tuesday, and all I can think about is how wonderful last weekend was. On Friday, I left Natchitoches, picked up Aphra, and headed south to Lafayette, Louisiana. For the entire weekend, we scrapbooked at our favorite scrapbook store, Treasured Memories. Janet, the owner, brought in the fabulously cute Beatriz Guzman...she is truly adorable. She taught a class on how to make a shabby altered book and another class on some creative ways to use the Cricut. Since Aphra and I have a few upcoming deadlines, we chose to scrapbook instead of participating in the classes, but we soaked up as much as we could from Beatriz and the other talented ladies. They ALL have soooo many neat techniques in their back pockets. Here is one of the layouts I completed this weekend. It is for this week's challenge at Scrapping Out LOUD! The challenge is to create a scene on your layout. And in true Treasured Memories fashion, I created a 2 page layout. Take a look...

"Princess in Training"

I am pleased with my scene layout...even though it took forever. I love the details. The castle is a mini-album that I took apart and stacked. The cobblestones are from a Starbuck's coozie...so much fun! The clouds were made from the ripped book pages for the altered book class and everything, except for the buttons and alphas, was purchased from Treasured Memories.

Thanks again Janet for hosting such a fun weekend...I really needed it!
