So, I Don't Have a Favorite!

This week at the Paper Poppy blog we are supposed to choose a favorite product from this month's kit and chat about it. Well, I am NOT following the rules...I'm a rebel...yep, I know it...I CHOOSE EVERYTHING!! Every product is my favorite this month! Here is a look at my layout highlighting ALL of my most favorite products.

Summer Girl

I am not a chickie that tends to mix lines of patterned paper, but I did love the way the Sassafras and Jenny Bowlin mixed this month. For me, the distress-ish feel of both of the lines worked! And as you know, I love to outline and doodle. I used the Brilliance Cosmic Copper Chalk from the add-on kit to outline the edges, and used a copper pen from my stash to doodle around the edges of my cardstock and patterned paper. It was a nice change from the brown and black that I usually use!

Ok, can we have a moment of silence for the fabulous designers who created that fabulous yellow butterfly....gracious me they are super talented folk! I love, love that butterfly! I added the Jenni Bowlin buttons and pins to dress it up a bit...love it!

And how about those AC Felt Flowers? Yummo!! I also cut the leaves from the vintage dictionary paper in the kit and chalked the edges olive...I love foliage!

September with Paper Poppy!!

Hi there! Hope you had a wonderful weekend...we sure did. The weekend was spent tidying up around the house, laundry, a date with my hubby, and a little softball...can't beat that!! Don't ya just love those sorts of weekends? I did manage to get a bit of scrapping done...so, check that off of the list too! I don't know about you, but I am not believing that it is already September!! It's time for the weather to change, ESPN 24-7 at my house, and no more white pants!! If I would have realized that, I would have gotten one last good wear out of my white, Banana Republic, ankle pants...I love them! And now it's to the back of the closet for them babies!!

Since it is September, there is a new kit at Paper Poppy, and I love it...again. Take a look...

This month the sketch and challenge are combined...love that! The challenge is to use strips on your layout, and how accomodating...Aphra included strips on the sketch!! And to make it even easier, the add-on includes the coordinating Indie Girl Paper Edges...gotta love that!!

A Little Paper Poppy Sneak!!

...the American Crafts Fruit Salad Dimensional Stickers!!!

Aren't these little diddies just the cutest? And I think they could be used for more than a juicing layout, right? Since it is 10, 000 degrees during the summer in good ole Louisiana, you can only imagine just how many pictures of my family I have by the pool, in the pool, on the pool...ok maybe not, but there are lots of pool pictures! I thought that the AC stickers screamed summer. So why not use them on a pool layout? Take a look...

Beat the Heat

Aren't the stickers just perfect for the Jillibean Soup Summer Squash patterned paper? Yep, me too...I think so. I really wanted to use the word paper as my background, so I felt compelled to keep it simple. Keeping it simple is a bit tough for me, but I do think that I achieved it. And since this is a problem, once I stuck everything down I felt like I needed some dimension....and HELLO...dimensional stickers...perfect, and waaaala!!

I am in absolute love with the August Paper Poppy kit! It is full of Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely and Jillibean Soup's Summer Squash...It is, it is...so yummy, bright, pretty, and summery. Take a look at the August sketch...

Sweet Memory

See yummy, huh? Those colors are just beautiful, and with 3 girls I have tons of pictures to coordinate with this line! For these sweet pics of my 2nd daughter's birthday, I decided to make a juicy, strawberry to tie in the title. Here are a few close-ups...


With the chipboard and the stickers, I am inclined to stack. This layout is just the tip of the iceberg. My next layout includes lots of stacking. For this layout I stacked patterned paper, cardstock, cardstock stickers, and the American Crafts brads to create this...

Whop-Bam-Boom!!

Well hey there...again! It is product week at the Paper Poppy, where we share our most favorite product in the present kit. And hands down, my favorite product in the July kit is the ginormous bottle caps by Maya Road. Here is a look at how I used the bottle caps...

No. 3

Basically, I just took a hammer and beat the ever lovin' bejesus out of it!! There is no art to it...no "make sure you hit the sides to make it lay right"...nothing!!! You just take a hammer and pound it till the sides flare out, hence "Whop-Bam-Boom!" Here are a few close-ups...


I just love the way the bottle caps add a little variation to my predictable cluster of flowers. I plummeted the bottle cap, which by now you are fully aware of, punched a few circle shapes out of patterned paper, added an Evalicious flower, and stuck the entire thing down with a glue dot...E-A-S-Y!!!
And one more thing...don't ya just love it when a title works out as well as this one? The title "No.3" is from one of the cards on Cosmo Cricket's patterned paper, and it just so happens that my Vivi is the 3rd in line...love that!!!

...and I created this sketch with the July products in mind! The tags on the left are just perfect for the Jillibean Soup tags included in the kit...the scallop at the bottom is perfect for the 10,000 tickets or Sassafras Lass edges...ya see, just perfect!! Here is a look at my layout using the sketch for inspiration!

And for the sake of being different, or to give myself a self inflicted headache, I used the Sassafras Lass tags instead of the Jillibean Soup ones. For me the Jillibean Soup tags made the most sense, but I...well, you know. I also layered a couple strips of paper instead of the one, to add a bit more color because the Sassafras tags were not enough...LOL! Here are a few close-ups...

Au Revoir June Paper Poppy Kit!!

What a fun month at the Paper Poppy, huh? Well, today is the day that I share my last, yea, you heard me, last Paper Poppy June layout. *sniff-sniff* It has been a good one! With this kit I have scrapped Brock playing on the porch, my big girls at their dance recital, Vivi playing in a barn, Brock on the lawn mower with his grandpa, and finally a Mardi Gras Ball...who knew Lily Bee and GCD could be so versatile? If you are in the market for whooop-pow in your face bright and fun kit, there are still a few available in the store HERE!

Anyhoo, here it is my laaaast layout! Do you remember this baby from the beginning of the month?

Well, I took the June sketch, created by Aphra, and stretched it to this...

A Wild Night in Paris

Ok, it doesn't look so "wild," but the "wild" photos are locked in the vault...teeheehee! So basically what I did was keep the paper placement the same and added a few more touches of embellishments to fill up the 2 pieces of 12 X 12 paper...easy! And surprisingly, it doesn't even look like I used the same sketch! Here are a few close-ups...

The "wild" is the GCD chipboard from the kit, which I covered with the GCD zebra patterned paper. That just screams F-U-N!! I also used the Prima bling frame to function as the tag on the sketch.

Lots of fun here! First those are 2 of the letters we got in the June kit, you also gotta love those Lily Bee chipboard flowers, and the rosettes? Those are once again from the sweet rosette ribbon in the kit.
Last, but certainly not least, that BIG blue flower!! The heart paper doily? Yes, there was 1 in the kit, but I had a few extra in my stash. I misted them blue, pinched the ends, and stapled them together. I then covered the staples with more of the Lily Bee Chipboard Flowers, and TADA...a BIG blue flower!!

Just One Fave...Really?

The focus at the Paper Poppy blog this week is to choose ONE favorite thing from the June kit, and chat it up on the blog. But this has proven to be a bit difficult for me. There are sooooo many things that I love about this kit...the Lily Bee patterned paper, the GCD brads, the Lily Bee Rub-ons, I could really go on and on. But if I must choose 1 thing to chat about and deem as my favorite, it would have to be these babies...

The Lily Bee Die-cuts!

They really are awesome. I just love how they took the patterns from the Hello Sunshine Collection paper, and included them on the die-cuts! And they are sooo adorable, that you really don't need extra patterned paper on a layout. Take a look at how I combined 3 of the die-cuts on one single layout...

A Smile Like No Other

This layout was a breeze! 3 die-cuts...Three!!! I must warn you though, if you plan on using that many die-cuts, I found that your pics really need to be a good size. Which is why I created the picture box. I used 2 of the die-cuts to give the layout some color and to function as the patterned paper, and the other, I used it to mount my title! Here are a few close-ups...
How about those sweet yellow flowers? Those are from the rosette ribbon. I just cut the roses from the ribbon and adhered them with a glue dot. The buttons are from the Lily Bee Chipboard Stickers...so sweet.
And how about this baby? The GCD chipboard butterflies are from the May kit, which is still available HERE. They were just what I needed to add a bit of whimsy to my layout!
The cameo is in this kit, and are too sweet. The Jillibean Soup journaling spot is also from May's kit, and the perfect addition to the colors in the June kit!!

Challenge Week at Paper Poppy!!

Hey there ladies!! It is challenge week at Paper Poppy, and it is a fun one!! This month's challenge is to create a project using artwork by Mary Engelbreit as your inspiration. Super fun huh? Aphra found that the colors and patterns in the June kit reminded her of Mary Engelbreit's whimsical work. And as I searched for a piece for inspiration, I found the same!! Here is a look at my inspiration...
Cute, cute huh? Now, let me tell ya what I liked about it. I liked how the pic of the friends is pushed against the right hand side, how the floral pattern is on 2 sides of the pic, how there is not a definite title, only a quote, and the circle is in the bottom left hand corner.
