Paper Poppy Catch-Up

Hey again. I'm not sure if you have heard the news, but Aphra is shutting down Paper Poppy...sniff, sniff. Yes, I know...she's one of the best kit putter-togethers I know. But like us all, she has a lot on her plate. But know what? She is going out with a BANG!!! Two fabulous kits to finish things off! Here is a look at my most recent layouts using the November kit!

Fall Fun

Tree-mendous Wishes

These kits are a must have..love them! This month she is selling a Fall-ish kit, and a beautiful Christmas kit. If you would like one, you can find it HERE.
By the way, did you notice how great the photo of my 1st layout looked? Well, my sweet hubby let me treat myself to this...
Isn't he just the sweetest!! This little purchase has prompted me to start taking a bunch of pictures, and photography has now been put on my list of things I want to do. So to track what I am learning and my progress, I decided to start another blog...just for my pics! If you would like to take a look, you can find it HERE. I have already made my first post, and I would love to hear what you think. Please, comments and critiques are welcome...I'm learning remember!

So, I Don't Have a Favorite!

This week at the Paper Poppy blog we are supposed to choose a favorite product from this month's kit and chat about it. Well, I am NOT following the rules...I'm a rebel...yep, I know it...I CHOOSE EVERYTHING!! Every product is my favorite this month! Here is a look at my layout highlighting ALL of my most favorite products.
Summer Girl
I am not a chickie that tends to mix lines of patterned paper, but I did love the way the Sassafras and Jenny Bowlin mixed this month. For me, the distress-ish feel of both of the lines worked! And as you know, I love to outline and doodle. I used the Brilliance Cosmic Copper Chalk from the add-on kit to outline the edges, and used a copper pen from my stash to doodle around the edges of my cardstock and patterned paper. It was a nice change from the brown and black that I usually use!
Ok, can we have a moment of silence for the fabulous designers who created that fabulous yellow butterfly....gracious me they are super talented folk! I love, love that butterfly! I added the Jenni Bowlin buttons and pins to dress it up a bit...love it!

And how about those AC Felt Flowers? Yummo!! I also cut the leaves from the vintage dictionary paper in the kit and chalked the edges olive...I love foliage!

Thanks for stoppin' by to check out my vast array of favorites! There are still a few kits available in the Paper Poppy store if you would like one. You can get yours HERE. Chat soon!!

Still Lovin' Some September Paper Poppy!!

Hey there! Yep, like I said still lovin' the September Paper Poppy kit! And this past week I was able to do a beach layout, which was intended for this kit. Take a look...

The Little ThingsAs I mentioned before, I am enjoying where this kit is taking me creatively. For instance, the strip at the bottom of the pic...I simply crumbled the tickets to make them easier to scrunch! I then scrunched and stapled...scrunched and stapled. Only to find that I did not like the staples! I took a piece of scrap ribbon, tied a knot, and glued it down...problem solved!!

The paper in this kit reminds me of a quilt my grandmother used to have over her couch, and I am automatically inspired to put as much as I can on my layout...kinda like a patchwork. Ok, lets go ahead and address the Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards...I chopped them into shreads...yes, yes I did! Let me just say that I love JB Bingo Cards, I do, but I have had 25 or so in my time. I am a bit bored with having them peek out of a cluster, covering a chipboard button or two, or using the word in a title...I have done it all before! And there the idea to chop them to pieces was born. After I cut them, I inked them to give them a more distressed look, and lined my layout with them like a frame! I tried to let the doodling go, but you can plainly see, I didn't! I guess somethings will never change...LOL!!

Last week was very inspiring at the Paper Poppy blog. Hello??? Suzanne Sergi is Guest Designing!!!! You can check it out HERE! Hope you had a great weekend, and see ya soon with my weekend projects! Tootles!!

September with Paper Poppy!!

Hi there! Hope you had a wonderful weekend...we sure did. The weekend was spent tidying up around the house, laundry, a date with my hubby, and a little softball...can't beat that!! Don't ya just love those sorts of weekends? I did manage to get a bit of scrapping done...so, check that off of the list too! I don't know about you, but I am not believing that it is already September!! It's time for the weather to change, ESPN 24-7 at my house, and no more white pants!! If I would have realized that, I would have gotten one last good wear out of my white, Banana Republic, ankle pants...I love them! And now it's to the back of the closet for them babies!!

Since it is September, there is a new kit at Paper Poppy, and I love it...again. Take a look...

Summer DazeFour pieces of cardstock, seven sheets of patterned paper, three types of trim, two alphas, a rub-on, felt flowers, chipboard stars, vintage book paper and milk caps, buttons, stick pins, mini clothes pins, bingo cards, and a large doilie....shew! It is heavenly! If you think you may need one of these beauties, you can get one HERE.

There is also a cute September sketch designed by Aphra and a challenge...

September Sketch And here is my "sweet" take on it...

Sweet Eyes

This month the sketch and challenge are combined...love that! The challenge is to use strips on your layout, and how accomodating...Aphra included strips on the sketch!! And to make it even easier, the add-on includes the coordinating Indie Girl Paper Edges...gotta love that!!
Sure hope your week is off to a good start! See ya soon!

And a Bit More Learning Curve

Hey there ladies!! It's sketch time at the Bo Bunny blog today, and this month's sketch is brought to you by your's truly...ME!! Here is a look at September's Sketch... Not too bad, huh? I love to create sketches, and I was certainly excited to create one for Bo Bunny this month. Not only was our assignment to use September's sketch to create a layout, but we had to use the adorable Learning Curve...I know it's a tough job, but we managed! LOL!! This is such a fun line, with tons of sweet school embellies. Here is a look at my layout...

Time Flies

Supplies Used: Learning Curve, Learning Curve Recess, Learning Curve Stripe, Learning Curve Cut Outs, Learning Curve 12" Chipboard, Learning Curve Combo Sticker, Harvest Dot, First Day of School Cardstock Sticker, Cambridge Combo Sticker, Denim Wraps, Learning Curve iCandy, Olive Trim, Chuncky Chips Alpha Chipboard, Double Dot Ribbon, Buttons

Yep, like I said lots of embellies...check out that cluster!! The clock is from the 12" Chipboard, the star is from the Learning Curve Combo Stickers, the ampersand is from the Learning Curve iCandy brads...yummy!! Now the zipper rosette I made from Bo Bunny's new trims...the Olive Trim. I just punched a circle from cardstock, added a bunch of gluedots, stuck the trim down in a circle, and added another Learning Curve iCandy brad!

The denim is fromt the Denim Wraps, another of Bo Bunny's new coordinationg embellies. I ruffled it and hand-stitched it to add a more homespun look!

Finished it off with a few Bo Bunny buttons, added a bit of journaling, and called myself finished!!
You must, must go and check out the Bo Bunny blog today because it is full of sketch and Learning Curve inspiration. You can check it out HERE. Have a great weekend, and see ya soon!!

In the summer we just float by, but during the school year we have a pretty tight schedule. It just seems as though I get more done...kinda should work the opposite, but oh well. So, have you scrapbooked all of your summer pics? Nope...well how about we make a date? You, me, and a little Echo Park Sweet Summertime to create this...

TOP 10 of Summer 2010!!

My August fave at Paper Poppy is...

...the American Crafts Fruit Salad Dimensional Stickers!!!

Aren't these little diddies just the cutest? And I think they could be used for more than a juicing layout, right? Since it is 10, 000 degrees during the summer in good ole Louisiana, you can only imagine just how many pictures of my family I have by the pool, in the pool, on the pool...ok maybe not, but there are lots of pool pictures! I thought that the AC stickers screamed summer. So why not use them on a pool layout? Take a look...

Beat the Heat

Aren't the stickers just perfect for the Jillibean Soup Summer Squash patterned paper? Yep, me too...I think so. I really wanted to use the word paper as my background, so I felt compelled to keep it simple. Keeping it simple is a bit tough for me, but I do think that I achieved it. And since this is a problem, once I stuck everything down I felt like I needed some dimension....and HELLO...dimensional stickers...perfect, and waaaala!!

I am sure enjoying this kit, and if you don't have one...you are missing out! You can still purchase a kit HERE.

Hope you are having a great day...Tootles!!

My Turn at MLBOW!

Hey there!! Just wanted to stop by and share one of my August layouts for MLBOW. Kat and I are hosting our own layouts on the blog, and we are having a ball! For this layout I used Imaginisce's Birthday Bash Collection. This oh so fun birthday line was just screaming for a MLBOW cupcake, and a cupcake is what it got!! Take a look...

Let's Celebrate You!!

I also added one of the versatile MLBOW textured buttons. These sweet buttons that Steph makes are just perfect for any layout to add dimension. On this layout I used one of the bright red ones!
Well there you have it...birthday MLBOW style!! Thanks so much for stopping by and see ya soon!!

It's the Simple Things!

It is challenge week at the Paper Poppy, and Aphra's August kit is just perfect for it! The kit is full of fun colors, fruity embellishments, and yummy patterns...all screaming S-U-M-M-E-R!!!! The challenge...scrap whatever it is you love about SUMMER!! This one is a breeze for me because as soon as that very last bell rings in May, we start celebrating summer at our house. But with 4 kiddos in tow, I have to really choose our outings carefully. One of our most favorite outings in the summer is to the park. It is secluded, few people, TONS of space, and it is safe to let my kids roam. Well on this particular summer day, while 3 of my 4 kids played on the jungle gym, my darling Vivi picked up sweet gum balls and had the best time. I can just remember thinking how she just passed the time doing something so simple, and loved it. She just tickled me because as she picked up the balls and put them in her cup, she would accidentally dump the balls in the cup on the ground. And there, the process would start over...cute, huh? Here is a look at my layout capturing this sweet summer memory...

Passing the Time
I have decided that every one of my doubles look the same. I love to have a focal picture and just line the rest of the pictures down the page...oh well, it works! Of course I used tons more of the DeLovely Collection by Cosmo Cricket. It was just perfect for Vivi's turquoise jumper. Do you see the hot pink border around the layout? I created it by cutting down 2 pieces of cardstock and misting the edges with the pink Maya Mist. I stitched around the misted border to give it a more homespun look....I just love the way it turned out!! Here are a few close-ups...

Good gracious me that chipboard...it is a girl's best friend! It is just begging to be stacked, and who am I not to oblige...so I stacked!! I also added the sweet American Crafts brads to the centers...perfect.

Sure hope you are getting some scrapping done this summer. And if you are not in the mood, this kit could sure do it!! Thanks for stopping by...tootles!!

Seeing Double!!

Hey there ladies! I am sooo super excited to share Right at Home Scrapbooking's August sketch with you today! I have been creating sketches for Right at Home for awhile now, but this is a first for me...a 2 PAGE LAYOUT SKETCH!!! With 4 kiddos to scrapbook, doubles are a must sometimes. So anytime I can sneak one in, I do. Today I took the double page sketch and created a double, but I have 4 additional layouts to share this month. So, I promise to show you a single variation of the sketch. Here is a look at the sketch and my layout, but make sure you keep reading because there is a PRIZE this month!!!

August Sketch

My take on the double page sketch...

Good Times

DSCN7529

DSCN7530

I had a great time with this sketch!! The best part...6 photos...one complete event...DONE!! And as always a sketch is purely meant to inspire, so I changed it a bit to accommodate my supplies. These pics were just perfect for Bo Bunny's Sun Kissed Collection. Basically, I had to figure out a way to get that sprinkler on the same layout as these pics...and I did! Instead of the journaling being in the block of pics, I chose to have the journaling go along the bottom of the pics. This in turn gave me enough space to add that super cute sprinkler and hose! I also changed the top a bit. Instead of patterned paper running across the top of the pics, I braided crepe paper to add dimension. The flower then became a sun. Just perfect for my summery theme. Super fun, huh?

Ok, now the prize!! Take a look...
AugustSketchPrize

Wowzers...that Lisa can coordinate some product!! This prize is full of Cosmo Cricket's Joy Ride Collection, and Lisa certainly is generous with coordinating buttons and ribbon!! For a chance to win these goodies, post your layout in the Right at Home Gallery HERE by Tuesday, August 31st. Please make sure that when posting your layout you tag it "August Sketch 2010"...very important!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you give our sketch challenge a try this month...tootles!!
